So I guess the first step is choosing a pose and a subject and starting with an outline. I've chosen a character I created. she's a bit of a new character so I'm still working on how I want her costume to look. I wanted to draw something a bit zoomed in so I could play with the small details on her costume.

When I'm attempting a pin-up style picture like this one, I like to use a real life model as a reference instead of something out of a comic. It allows me to work more on my own style than copying someone else's. the picture I used can be seen here. so looking at the picture I came up with a very basic outline. at this point I'm more or less concentrating on the bulk of the figure, which in this case is her torso.
